Data East/Sega Buzz Buster XPIN #XPS-DEBB

It is a well known fact that most Data East pinball machines have a BUZZ that comes from the speakers.  This BUZZ is a 120 Hz hum that is actually generated by the power supply +/-12 Volt system.  There are several ways to address this, and the XPin Buzz Buster module is one of the ways to reduce the buzz, but it does not eliminate it.

The the Buzz Buster module is plugged into the Data East sound board, location CN6.  This board re-conditions the +12V to reduce the the 120Hz, but it can’t eliminate it completely.

To truly eliminate the BUZZ, one should replace the old capacitors on the sound board with a complete capacitor rebuild kit, which we can help you with

Rebuilding the original power supply can also reduce the Buzz, but the best solution is to replace your original Data East power supply with an XPS-DE5047 which has the BUZZ BUSTER designed into the board, eliminating it at it’s source
